Chemical Bonding Theory

Chemical Bonding Theory is a modern undergraduate text which gives a simple introduction to modern ideas surrounding the chemical bond. The electronic structure of atoms and molecules is developed in easy steps without detailed mathematical description. Emphasis is placed upon the principles of chemical bonding and these are illustrated by chemical structures, 3D graphics, and by the results of resent ab-initio molecular orbital and valence-bond calculations. The wide selection of organic and inorganic examples and the use of elementary aspects of atomic and molecular spectroscopy make this text highly suited to the teaching of core courses in bonding theory. Each chapter in the text contains assignments of graded difficulty and answers to selected problems.
