Over 800 technical changes have been incorporated in this new edition. The NBC sets out technical provisions for the design and construction of new buildings. It also applies to the alteration, change of use and demolition of existing buildings. New information has been added to make the 2005 NBC clearer, easier to apply to existing buildings and more accommodating to innovation. It explains the objectives that the Code's provisions are intended to achieve and describes the functions that a building or its components must perform to fulfill these objectives.
