Pathophysiologic Foundations of Critical Care

Some of the best known intensivists in the USA and Europe examine the important interrelationships of structure, function and pathology on the disease process in critically ill patients, based on current knowledge and insights from ongoing research. The reader is challenged to think in depth about what has caused a patient's illness, what the logical outcome of that disease will be and what treatment might be appropriate, given present knowledge about pathophysiology, monitoring and therapeutic options.
