A young girl’s father, a powerful Southern aristocratic businessman, disapproves of the developing relationship between his daughter, Renee, and a local attorney’s son, Reuben. He sets in motion a tale of woe, horror, salvation, and victory, separating Renee from Reuben by an arranged marriage, causing Reuben to become a soldier and face the horrors of the battlefields in Mexico.
