Basic Atlas of Sectional Anatomy With Correlated Imaging

Preface to the Second Edition; We are pleased with the enthusiastic response we have received from those who have used the Alas. Since completion of the first edition there has been a rapid expansion on the field of radiological imaging. Computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography (US) are widespread in daily radiological practice, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is rapidly becoming so. It is for this reason that we have substantially revised the Atlas. Sectional anatomy is the basis for the interpretation of CT, US, and MRI. To demonstrate the importance of sectional anatomy, we added representative images from the different modalities that display living anatomy and correlated them with the cadaveric sections. Although, we have used many images, it was not our intent to publish an imaging atlas. The primary purpose of the Atlas remains a presentation of detailed anatomy as viewed by sections. We chose the images in this edition in order to display the breadth of anatomy seen with CT, US, and MRI.
