Uncertain Security investigates the changing concept of security in an expanding Europe in the decade after the collapse of the Soviet Bloc. Christopher Ulrich and Timo Kivimäki's new work chronicles the dramatic geopolitical, economic, and social impact of transnational crime on the Baltics, Scandinavia, and post-Soviet Russia. It analyzes the ability of Russia and the newly independent Baltic democracies to refocus much needed resources away from Cold War military imperatives to counter the threat of organized crime and criminal terrorism.
