Life in the American southwest during the 1940s offered little hope for a group of Mexican-Yaqui miners. With racism and discrimination rampant, the choice was clear; work the copper mines and dream of someday making it big on the baseball diamond. Yet, one group of men and women had the courage to challenge the status quo and forge a new way of life.
