In the 1970s Andy Sparks was an avid trainspotter and photographer. As he traveled around, he realized that vestiges of the steam age remained even though that era was over. In this book he presents scenes of passenger and freight trains, early multiple units and signals, as well as more minute details such as gas lamps, station signs, and ticket barriers. This volume will be welcomed by enthusiasts and is an important record of how stations, track, motive power, and working practices have been modernized over the past 30 years.
