The Emperor Moctezuma's daughter is a heroine in Latinamerica and admired for her strength of character. She was both princess and empress, mistress to Hernan Cortés and raised in an Aztec civilization that was in many ways far in advance of Europe. Her family built a mansion in Spain that still stands today - but what would she have thought of medieval Spain, impoverished by religious wars, hungry for Aztec gold, enslaving Mexican peasants and terrorized by the Inquisition?
