Great World Atlas

The DK Great World Atlas has been created both as a celebration and a record of our World at the beginning of the 21st century. It is also an attempt to bridge the gap between our perception of our planet and its representation in maps. Each regional map is completed by an image of the same region, on the same scale and projection, developed from a range of remote-sensed satellite data. The digital technology and wide range of data samples use to create them means that these images represent springtime everywhere, uninterrupted by clouds and other atmospheric effects. These pages provide a breathtaking record of the beauty and diversity of our home planet, and build up the most detailed portrait of the World yet attempted in print. Now entering its fifth edition The DK Great World Atlas has been comprehensively updated, and reflects many of the geo-political developments which continue to alter the shape of our world.
