ANALYZING SHORT STORIES

More that two-thirds of this volume is dedicated to the reproduction of 24 American short stories selected to be analyzed by students after having absorbed the material of the textbook section of the work. Before presenting the stories, Lostracco and Wilkerson (both of Austin Community College) offer standard advice on literature analysis as it pertains to short stories, covering the central idea, character, conflict, point of view, setting, language, and tone.
