Human Anatomy and Physiology: A Functional Approach is focused on describing the complex and beautiful relationship between anatomy and physiology in the human body by focusing on three core principles: -structure dictates function -homeostasis -cell-to-cell communication These three core principles are the main focus of the first chapter and run throughout the book as a unifying theme, tying different sections of the book together. The book is different from others on the market in that there is a chapter on excitable cells prior to a discussion of the nervous system and muscle, as well as and a chapter on biomechanics. This organizational structure is based on over 30 years of teaching human anatomy and physiology by the author.
