New Orleans and Its Environs: The Domestic Architecture 1727-1870

New Orleans was a melting pot of Spanish and French culture, in a climate that forced a uniquely American architecture. More than 260 images present the wide verandahs, hipped and gabled roofs, neo-classical sensibilities, and lavish iron lacework that give this region its unique architectural character.
