Novell's Guide to IntranetWare Networks (Novell Press)
Book Details
Description
Novell's Guide to IntranetWare Networks begins with a discussion of what's involved in installing IntranetWare and configuring it to accommodate the needs of your organization. The discussion covers lots of installation utilities and various Novell Directory Services (NDS) objects and properties. NDS gets exhaustive coverage that ranges from planning to creating partitions and synchronizing NDS time.
The authors detail the day-to-day aspects of managing IntranetWare, describing what's involved in installing servers and workstations and giving plenty of time to the mechanics of getting multiple servers to work together (though no mention is made of Wolf Mountain, Novell's server-clustering software).
If you're thinking about converting an existing local area network (LAN) to IntranetWare, this book is for you. The authors explain in detail how to convert NetWare systems to IntranetWare. They also pay some attention, though not enough, to the needs of those trying to convert from non-Novell LAN solutions. The IntranetWare Web and FTP servers get whole chapters, and an appendix documents server commands in modified man-page format.
