The Renaissance, as the period which effects the change into modernism has been called, was the rebirth of an attitude toward life which medieval thought had stifled. The renaissance man was awakened to the possibility of beauty and gratification in this mortal life. He did not abandon religion, but he enlarged his life to include many new interests.
