Fictional First-Person Discourses in Cuban Diaspora Novels: The Author Within and Beyond Textual Boundaries

This is a literary analysis that creates a new framework for the study of autobiographies, using Spanish-language Cuban diaspora novels as the source texts. This book examines the fictional first-person discourses of Spanish-language Cuban diaspora novels that have been written over the last three decades. The novels' imaginative discourses, as impacted by dislocation, are interpreted as "autobiographical acts" of individual and collective identity. The novels' autobiographical acts, situated at the juncture between imaginative creation, fictional self-positioning and diasporic reality, offer a distinctive framework for studying the complexities of first-person writing within and beyond textual boundaries.
