Mastering Netware 5
Book Details
Description
The book begins by explaining how to install NetWare, giving special attention to setting up Novell Directory Services (NDS) and connecting new nodes to an established network. Then the author goes into depth on how to manage a NetWare system--he details scores of approaches for coordinating users, resources, and policies in order to yield an efficient network. Internet connectivity gets lots of space too--Gaskin shows how NetWare implements TCP/IP and how to set up both Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and DNS.
You'll appreciate the "In a Hurry" boxes Gaskin has inserted into his text at frequent intervals. These boxes contain succinct, step-by-step procedures that tell how to, for instance, create a NetWare Distributed Print Services (NDPS) Broker or grant trustee rights to a volume or directory. However, there don't seem to be as many stepped procedures (or as much detailed information) for features that debuted in NetWare 5 as for capabilities that have been around awhile. --David Wall
