Description
Develop language skills in a career context
The One-a-Day program is a simple, thorough teaching plan for every day of the school year. The program's 180 sessions are divided into eighteen study units that each survey an entire occupational cluster of eight jobs while focusing on one or two writing skills.
Each day's lesson focuses on a single job, and includes a Chalkboard Lesson, a job-related error sentence for students to correct as a group; a Thinking/Speaking Lesson with two or three critical thinking questions for discussion; and a Listening/Writing Lesson with a short dictation exercise. In just 20 minutes a day, over the course of the school year, you can cover 144 jobs, 288 job-related vocabulary words, 288 spelling words, and 18 important writing skills.
The Classroom Resource Book is included to extend and support the teacher-directed lessons in the Daybook. The 192-page resource book contains reproducible sheets for daily practice and homework assignments, plus 144 Further Reading selections with follow-up questions and Beyond the Classroom activities.
