This account of the six-month voyage in the Caribbean of a junk-rigged schooner was undertaken because the author's mission was to find out what man is doing to one of the world's major marine ecosystems in terms of the hump-backed whale, the sea turtle and other flora and fauna. The book offers a story of the islands of the Caribbean, their people and the aquatic life around them - with diversions concerning the Sargossa Sea, the Gulf Stream and the life cycle of whales.
