Reading Race, Reading the Bible (Facets)

Nash explores the role of race in the interpretation of the Bible and its pertinence to today’s black church. Although race is itself a modern invention, it has frequently—and lethally—been read back into the biblical narratives. Nash not only traces the modern developments and the misinterpretation of Scriptures, he also shows how indeed blackness and Africa do legitimately figure in the biblical narratives and shed new light on the Hebrew Bible, the character of God, and the legacy inherited by African American Christians.
