Western American History. Originally published in 1893, this book describes not only the crossing of the plains with wagons and teams but Majors's involvement in the brief and boisterous career of the Pony Express, many side attractions like frontier cities and western horticulture, and figures like Kit Carson and buffalo Bill, the latter of whom was still a boy when Majors hired him to carry dispatches between the wagon trains.
