Trust is Fiction (The Spirits Inside Me)

Poetry is many things to many people, evoking images, emotions, or memories in the mind and soul of the reader. Talented poet Rick VanderZee does this and more in his collection, Trust Is Fiction: The Spirits Inside Me.

Through his dynamic words in poems such as "Appreciation Can Be Blind," Mr. VanderZee admonishes us to stop taking the world and others for granted and to take time to live life rather than just existing. Doing so again in "Your Clothes Are Off," he also reveals an artful sense of the absurd.

However, in "I Don t Care" and "Hesitant," we can feel the depths of his despair at an unrequited love, yet in "Crystal" and "When I Think of Heaven," we are aware of his joy and delight in nature and the love of God.
