Description
My name is Tim Lord; actually, it’s Timothy Quinn Lord, a fine named picked out by my very own mother because of its majestic sound. I wasn’t named after anyone in particular; my mom just liked the way it sounded. I, on the other hand, hated my name as a child, and it took a long time for me to really like it. Maybe I didn’t dislike the name as much as I disliked the person with the name.
I am currently 46 years old, and when I look in the mirror, I see a fairly nice-looking guy with a slight bulge in the mid-section brought on by the onset of middle age and a somewhat affable smile. I seem to smile a lot in pictures taken of me; I think I do this so others won’t catch onto the real me, the one inside.
By looking at me, you’d think everything is all right with my life. But there is a lot of hidden history that even my closest friends and family do not know about.
I have been married to a great woman, Andrea, for twenty years. Even though she has two stepchildren and two of our own, Andrea swears she really has five children. That fifth child is me. I need an enormous amount of hugs and kisses, daily affirmations that I’m an okay guy, a decent dad, a good and faithful husband, a loyal son, and a caring brother.
I am a high school health teacher, who has in the past taught special needs children, physical education, and driver’s education. My wife and I also own a business as personal trainers.
I love to read and write. Not only do I want to write this, but I also need to write; I have to write. Someone has to know that not everything is as it seems. What we see on the outside does not also reflect the true picture. I write to define truth.
Oh, and before I forget, I am a recovered alcoholic, and I will be recovering every day for the rest of my life. I didn’t plan to be an alcoholic, but it is who I am and it defines the real me. It is part of the reflection I see every morning in the mirror.
What is the point in all of this? Well, have I got a story to tell you.
