The Agony & Ecstacy Of A Parent: A True Story
Book Details
Description
But it was not until the author's son, Nishant, went to the United States to pursue higher studies that the true meaning of agony was realized. Shortly thereafter Nishant was struck by a car and hospitalized in critical condition. His memory was severely impaired as a result of internal head injuries, and he could not recognize colors, letters of alphabets, or names of his friends. The author and his wife, on hearing this, plunged into a state of agony and spent all of their savings so the author could go to America to be with his son. The agony is followed by Nishant's slow road to a full recovery/ecstasy.
Throughout this process, Nishant's parents' faith in the Almighty and the help rendered by unknown people in America and their community at large until the author is able to reach the United States gives them strength.
The work is not only about parent/child love but it is also a glimpse into the lives, customs, and religious ceremonies of a typical Indian family. The author contends that any parents should be able to recognize their own agonies and ecstasies they experienced in raising their children in the pages of The Agony & Ecstasy of a Parent: A True Story.
