Pearls of Life: For the Personal Spiritual Journey with Other

Stranded by stormy weather on a small Greek Island, Lutheran Bishop Emeritus Martin Lonnebo created the Pearls of Life concept to guide his own prayer. He shared the idea with others and was amazed at their response and their stories of ever deepening prayer.The bracelet is made of quality glass and ceramic beads, strung on a soft elastic cord and imported from a fairtrade manufacturer in India. The book describes the meaning of each pearl and how it may be used in personal prayer. There are eighteen pearls, twelve round and six oblong. For example: - The largest golden pearl reminds us that we are not alone: God is supporting us, accepting us, loving us.- The six oblong pearls are for silence, for shutting out that which distracts.- The small shimmering white pearl reminds us that we are created in God's image.- The large white pearl reminds us that we are forgiven.Suitable for use by youth and adults, congregations may adapt it for use in confirmation classes, study groups, and retreats.
