Advances in Image Analysis (SPIE Press Monograph Vol. PM08)

Computerized image analysis is concerned principally with the automated extraction of information from data generated by 2D and 3D imaging sensors. This field has experienced significant growth in the past decade, motivated largely by a number of successful implementations based on processing platforms ranging from inexpensive microcomputers to massively parallel systems capable of executing computationally complex algorithms operating on large volumes of image data. Image analysis is a multidisciplinary field involving engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, natural sciences, life sciences, and medicine.
