Creative Revolt: A Study of Wright, Ellison, and Dostoevsky (American University Studies, Series Xxiv : American Literature, Vol 12)

This work analyzes the development of these three writers from early naturalism to existential freedom, with emphasis on Dostoevsky's influence on Wright and Ellison. It examines the tensions in each writer's presentation of the dialectic of the individual and community, personality and responsibility, and revolt and creative assertion.
