Mystics of the Book is a collection of studies by prominent scholars on different aspects of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic mysticism. Included are studies on major writers such as Meister Eckhart, Ibn al-'Arabi, and Judah the Pious. Seminal texts such as the Sefer Yetzirah, Von Abegescheidenheit, and al-Futuhat al-Makkiva are discussed as are general trends, particular modes, symbols, metaphors, and historical and ideological turns within a chronological range of nearly fifteen hundred years and a geographical range extending from Spain to Persia and Germany to North Africa.
