Finish Line Comprehension Skills: Understanding Main Ideas and Details is designed to provide additional practice in basic comprehension skills and strategies. In Part I, each major skill is presented through a variety of approaches. Each approach is addressed separately with a teaching lesson that explains it and walks students through a sample question and answer. Part II refers students to the introductory pages in Part I for help and then gives ample practice in each approach to the skill. Most of the passages have been written on a seventh- or eighth-grade level of difficulty.
