Recent Advances in the Chemistry of Anti-Infective Agents

This is a review of current research in the field, which takes the progressive step of covering anti-infective agents in general, rather than only beta-lactam antibiotics. It highlights innovations in the beta-lactams, quinolones, erythromycins and pseudomonic acids in the antibacterial arena, as well as iron transport delivery systems. It concludes with chapters that cover developments to combat HIV and new agents to combat herpes, malaria and PCP. The text also discusses crystallorganic studies on key enzymes, total synthesis of natural compounds and the assessment of needs in the antifungal area.
