📖 Description
The excavation of Debeira West, a town which flourished from the 8th to the 11th century AD, was part of the UNESCO plan of rescue archaeology in Nubia before the whole area was flooded by the waters rising behind the new High Dam at Aswan in Egypt. Excavation was concentrated on the northern part of this site, and revealed a complex town plan. This report describes the architecture, ecclesiastical and domestic, together with the objects found, to provide a detailed record of daily life at that time and place. The work is profusely illustrated with plans, sections, drawings and plates.
