Ideas Without Boundaries: International Education Reform Through Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking

This work offers evidence that international cooperation among educators can bring together the best features of different educational practices to create something new and better for everyone. The contributors deal with their experiences as participants in the Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking Project, an effort that provides faculty development materials and workshops led by volunteers in 17 countries throughout Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The volunteers describe classroom experiences that challenge teachers at all levels around the world to consider how changes in pedagogical practice have implications in larger cultural contexts. The reader also gains an insight into one of the largest educational reform movements in the world: the remaking of schools in former Communist countries.
