Management and Leadership in Social Work Practice and Education

Probably no topic or area of concern is more profound than leading and managing social welfare programs. Since its beginnings centuries ago, social welfare has progressed when it had outstanding leadership and faltered when it did not. Managing and leading in social work and the human services has its own extensive literature. This book brings together some current thinking on the subject from practitioners and academic specialists on the subject including Mark Ezell, a distinguished management theorist from the University of Kansas; Lawrence Martin of the University of Central Florida; Bruce D. The book also deals with the administration of social work education programs and includes a study of associate deans by Stanley Blostein and a chapter on administering social work education by Dean Jeanette Takamura of Columbia University. One of the few recent articles on social work education at historically black colleges and universities is offered by Rufus Sylvester Lynch, Jacquelyn Mitchell, and Eugene Herrington. Paul R.
