After the Crisis: Using Storybooks to Help Children Cope

Children who experience a traumatic crisis cannot process their feelings without adult support, and it can be hard for teachers to know how to help. After the Crisis provides teachers with tools to help children who have been through a trauma, such as homelessness, a natural disaster, or the death of a loved one. With activities and exercises that can be used in conjunction with fifty-two children s books, discussion starters, writing activities, and art centers, teachers can use After the Crisis to promote children s ability to cope and heal.
