Philip Larkin: His Life's Work

This work assesses the nature of Larkin's literary achievement and his life in the light of the poetry recently made available, and examines the ambivalence with which this reticent poet regarded his own literary reputation. By drawing on private letters and previously unpublished material, and with assistance from many who knew Larkin, Rossen builds up a detailed picture of Larkin's complex private live and poetic energies.
