Becoming inured to magazines on disk, electronic mail, and teletext-adapted television sets, all of which are now generally available, will accelerate our redefinition. Text should no longer be defined by its delivery device. Assent for that proposition leads directly to the hypothesis that non-verbal information (graphics) also constitutes text. If we consider the range of graphics that supports content texts, their function can be described according to existing prose text structures. So text becomes any meaningful information presented as text.
