6th European Conference on Residual Stresses Ecrs6: 10-12 July 2002, Coimbra, Portugal (Materials Science Forum)

The field of residual stresses is a very large one and is also highly interdisciplinary in nature with regard both to its applications and to its scientific and technological fundamentals. The aim of this conference (ECRS6) was to bring together researchers and practising engineers, academics and students from all of the European Community members, as well as guests from overseas. The volume comprises 147 papers which cover 14 important themes including measurement methods, measurement quality assurance, modelling methods, sources of residual stress in traditional and advanced materials and processes, and the effects and assessment of residual stress at the macro- and micro-scales. The contributions presented within the various subject areas fully reflect progress made in the field of residual stress research.
