A WORD ABOUT CONFIRMATION: Confirmation is all about standing in front of your family and community and publicly declaring your beliefs; in other words confirming your faith. Hence, the word Confirmation. The confirmation ceremony generally takes place in connection with Shavuot, when the Israelites stood at the foot of Mount Sinai and God revealed the Torah to them. This book will lead you there. WHAT WE BELIEVE: Confirmation is about a special kind of belief: religious belief. And we might as well say it up front. We assert that belief in God is the foundation of all belief. Jewish belief is also about what some people call "the really important stuff" in life, things that have lasting and important value.
