The Adrenal Gland (Comprehensive Endocrinology, Revised Series)
Description
The revised new Second Edition of this work provides a review of the physiology of the adrenal gland and the clinical conditions caused by aberrations of adrenal activity. The expanded scope of the Second Edition includes many new areas, and the 38 contributors are all internationally recognized authorities. The initial chapters examine the structure, function, pathology, growth, and development of the adrenal gland, the control of adrenocortical activity, the biosynthesis and metabolism of adrenal steroids, and the regulation of steroid enzymes. The latter half of the book focuses on the major clinical disorders and includes discussions of adrenal function testing and glucocorticoid therapy. A chapter on the adrenal medulla is also included.
