Dams and Control Works

Dams and Control Works presents an outline and summarization of the Bureau of Reclamation's experience in the design and construction of dams and control works. Articles on individual structures, written by members of the Bureau's engineering staff, were selected to exhibit the wide range of sizes, types, and designs of the dams, spillways, and outlet works that the Bureau has used under varied topographic, foundation, and climatic conditions, materials availability, and water need and use.

A special article on the over-all phases of dam design covers the general considerations and problems facing the dam designer, and another describes the types and usage of gates and valves.
