An ideology is a collection of thoughts that forms a system for evaluating life. The oldest ideologies are religious theologies and creeds, ideas that interpret the statements of inspired religious leaders but then distort them to suit the biases of the theologian. More modern ideologies are political, scientific, or social Marxism, Keynesian economics, liberalism, socialism, the doctrines of global warming, feminism, and so on. Most people believe that thinking is just a process of choosing one ideology or its opposite. But no ideologically-based system should ever be considered "thinking. Ideologies corrupt human thinking. They do this by trapping us in emotionalism and emshrining falsehoods as facts. Ideologies obscure higher intelligence. Even worse, they create massive schisms in human society. Isms & Schisms is a thorough analysis of the problem of ideologies, and how we can and must harness wisdom to expose ideologies and educate the mind to disentangle itself from them.
