Collier - The official minutes of the trial proceedings against two Apostles who in 1911 were called before the Council of the Twelve to answer to the charge that they had perpetuated the practice of plural marriage after the Manifesto. Through these Trials it is revealed that John W. Taylor and Matthias F. Cowley acted under the authority and appointments of Presidents Wilford Woodruff and George Q. Cannon, and that they were made use of as Scape Goates to take upon themselves the blame of Plural Marriages which were entered into after the signing of the Manifesto in 1890.
