Sharing the Road

Sharing the Road narrates some of the experiences the author enjoyed on three of his bicycle tours: on the Outer Banks of North Carolina; on the Blue Ridge Parkway; and in the People's Republic of China. The author and his son toured the Outer Banks on their bikes self-contained for six days. They also explored the mountains together on short bike rides for four days. The author toured the People's Republic of China for two weeks with 50 American bicyclists as the guests of the Ministry of Culture. These bicyclists considered this to be the trip of a lifetime. They were accorded special attention by the Chinese as they toured some of the famous sites in China. They cycled in Beijing, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Changzhou, Wuxi, and Suzhou. They were the first foreign bicycling delegation ever permitted to ride their bicycles across the gigantic Yangtze River Bridge in Nanjing.
