Description
They came from two difference places, the boy and the bird. The boy, Bryan Kingsley, a troubled teenager from the Adirondacks. The bird, a northern harrier hawk named Pale Face, born to the Canadian prairie. But their worlds come together when Bryan's mother is suddenly hospitalized, forcing him to live with his older brother, Sean, a biologist studying hawk migration in Cape, May Jersey. At the same time, Pale Face is abandoned by his parents and must learn his migration route south by himself, unaware of the dangers that await him as he heads toward the cape. During his stay Bryan's life begins to change. He befriends an old man who teaches him the art of hawk watching, works to mend his relationship with his brother and waits for his mother to bring him back home to the Adirondacks. Having arrived at the cape, Pale Face uses his time there to rest, hoping to continue on with his migration and find his parents. But when a hurricane threatens the coast, the safety of everyone involved is placed in jeopardy.
