My Mother's Daughter

This is a memoir of a young woman who lived in the Lower East Side of New York City during the Depression. These tales bring back to life a time and era in New York’s history that no longer exists. Between the pages you will find that rich mix of cultures which is New York City where immigrants from China mixed with the Italian, Russian and Irish newcomers. Given the authors closeness to the Jewish community, their are insights into the life of a "shabbas goy". These stories are told with humor, a fine eye for detail and at times with a poignancy born out of tough times for a close family. It is profusely illustrated with historic photographes.
