Dr. Richard Hansler became a physicist following his military career. He studied at Capital University, the University of Chicago and received a PhD from Ohio State University in 1952. He worked for GE Lighting for more than 42 years before joining John Carroll University as the Director of the Lighting Innovations Institute. The Institute carries out research on fiber optic and LED lighting for commercial and government customers. More recently Dr. Hansler has been studying the effects of light on human health and published a book "Great Sleep! Reduced Cancer!".
