Description

Stories, myths, and holy texts tell a similar story of man’s beginnings, describing an age of innocence and special relationships with animals. There ought to be some truth here. Thanks to recent scientific discoveries & popular theories, I’ve pieced together an incredible story that fits all the facts. I think I was inspired, because the story just hit me. I like to say, “My dog told me the story.” In a way he did. Facts and theories not commonly known, but addressed in this novel: 1. Neanderthals spoke as well as we do. 2. Neanderthals and Homo sapiens at the primary time of the story (100,000 years ago) had much larger brains than we do today. Find out why. 3. There is no evidence of war, between sparse human populations until near the end of the Ice Age. Neanderthals were assimilated by Homo sapiens. 4. Mitochondrial Eve lived somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. You’ll meet her. 5. Migrations from Africa to the Middle East and points north occurred around 100,000 years ago* (and at various other points in time). *This migration out of Africa of Homo sapiens takes up the first few chapters of the novel. 6. Neanderthals and Homo sapiens have the same ancestor, referred to in the story as The First Man Standing. His story is featured. 7. Dog DNA goes back to wolves between 40,000 to 135,000 years ago, long before domestication. Humans and wolves were symbiotic as early as 700,000 years ago. Some theorists believe wolves saved the entire northern population of humans on first meeting and thereafter. 8. Man had a complex understanding of the uses of plants. 9. The modern world’s commonplace conceits, deceits, & murders didn’t exist 100,000 years ago. These innocents said or showed what they thought. The whole family* can enjoy this story. Author’s note: the best way to present tribe and pack life is to feature various tribal and pack members as they go about loving and living with a one-for-all and all-for-one mentality. *Although written at an adult level (includes various love stories), children as young as eleven should be able to read it, because the love scenes are not explicit. This genre-bending pre-historic epic is catagorized under Magical Realism, Romantic Fantasy, and Adventure using a multi-protagonist approach common in the Victorian era in which a society is studied through the lives of it's members. In this book Homo sapiens tribes migrate out of Africa to points north where they later encounter wolves and one Neanderthal pack. If you liked this novel consider the novella The Wolves of Sherwood Forest by this author.
