A de Bono Teachers' Academy publication, this book is the first in the CoRT Thinking Lessons series. We recommended that you teach CoRT 1 Breadth Thinking tools first as they lay the foundation for thorough thinking and the exploration of challenges. The 10 Breadth thinking tools are designed to equip students, faculty, administrators, and parents with thinking skills that will help broaden their thinking about any topic, situation, or challenge. In the thinking of both children and adults there can be a tendency to take too narrow a view - for example, to take up an instant judgment position on an issue and then to use their thinking to support the position, rather than to explore the issue. With CoRT thinking tools you should know more about and have a broader view of each thinking situation after applying any of these tools than you had before you started. Reproducible student work cards are included to make it easy for budget strapped teachers to prepare their lessons.
