There Are No Lighthouses in Kentucky

Dee loved lighthouses. A lighthouse is supposed to be a beacon, a safe house. A location that is clearly visible when you are in danger that will harbor you in times of trouble. Mark had once told her, that there would be no place she could hide from him. As afraid as she was, for her life, Kentucky was the only place Dee knew, that for her, represented all those things and more. Dee's divorce had only been final for two short weeks. She was headed for Kentucky. The ride had been lonely and tiresome. Coming home from South Carolina had been a decision she had not been sure of.until now. The road had given her plenty of time to think, and that is just what she had done. Dee had relived her decision over and over in her head. Mark had been crazy her last days with him, and she had left him feeling terribly scared and frightened. Yet now, she felt safer.safer than she had felt in a long time. Especially since she had left her children with him in exchange for her life. She thought back at Mark's eyes and how crazy they were when he said to her, "You can run, but you can't hide.there are no lighthouses in Kentucky. you just remember that". Dee knew she had a lot of thinking and planning to do, and the first thing was to survive long enough to regain her children and her life back again.
