She insisted he take piano and voice lessons to develop this talent. His mother did this to the disadvantage always of herself. With a scholarship and her continuing to work he was able to finish college. Working for The Gregson Family Foundation and The Productive Life Foundation, Derek became the public face and primary entertainer for both. He is acclaimed nationwide as an accomplished musical performer.
